Cultured Diamond Definitions:

Cultured
Cultured diamonds are created in a laboratory and are physically and visually identical to traditionally mined diamonds, except for their method of production. Also called “synthetic” or “man-made” diamonds.

Eco Diamond
Eco Diamonds are cultured diamonds that have been produced using renewable energy, and distributed using sustainable methods and materials by Eco Diamond LLC.

HPHT
This method of diamond production uses high pressure and high temperature, replicating the natural conditions that create mined diamonds. All diamond producers use the HPHT method, with the exception of Apollo.

CVD
This method of diamond production involves a chemical vapor deposition process, and is used by Apollo Diamond Inc. This allows the company to produce colorless diamonds.

Simulant
Simulant gemstones differ from gemstones in their physical composition and visual appearance. Some companies create confusion between simulant diamonds and cultured diamonds due to their marketing methods and terminology.

REC
Renewable energy credit. Can be purchased through a certified source such as green–e. These credits can be used to allocate renewable energy to production or facilities that do not otherwise have access to direct renewable energy sources on the grid or through on–site infrastructure.
